Three (Sort of) Hidden Features of the Kindle Scribe
Compared to other large e-ink note-taking devices, the Kindle Scribe is a case of what-you-see-is-what-you-get. It isn’t a complex device and distractions tend to melt away so you can focus on your book, document or notes. However, in using the device for the last six months, I have compiled a list of little tidbits that are useful in day-to-day use.
- Automatically sleep/wake the screen with the pen
One thing I adore on the iPad and Apple Pencil 2 is that one can tap the screen to wake it up and get straight to your last-used note. In the most first-world of problems, having to click the sleep/wake button on the side of the Scribe offers slightly more friction. However, in a feature that I stumbled upon in the comments section of a Youtube video, I discovered that the Kindle Scribe can be put to sleep by resting the pen on a certain part of the wide bezel on the front of the device. Lifting the pen will then wake up the display and take you back to where you left off.
This feature seems to rely on a magnet, so the feature can be initiated by holding a magnet over the bezel. Make of that what you will!
