MinisForum Venus NAB6 and Linux
YouTube and late-night visits to eBay don’t mix. After gorging hours of content on the world of MiniPCs over the last couple of months, I headed over to eBay to see if I could get a hold of a MiniPC nice and cheap (I acknowledge the privilege in being able to drop such money on a machine at a whim). I ended up paying £220 for this little fella:

The model had a nice Intel i7–12650H processor and, as a ‘barebones’ pack, had no RAM and storage. As soon as I got it, I installed 32GB of DDR3 RAM and a 1TB Samsung Evo NVME SSD (the latter of which I had from my Framework laptop) and I was away. There’s even a SATA connection and a little mounting point inside meaning I could add another, albeit slower, drive at a later date if I wanted more storage.
One thing I should note is that many of the YouTube reviews of this device make reference to a heat sinc (plus fan) for the SSD. My version did not come with that accessory, instead opting for a small strip of rubber that attached inelegantly to the SSD with an…
