I’m relieved I returned the M4 iPad Pro
Less stress, less demands: knowing what your tech needs to do for you.
Last week, I returned my new and fantastically sleek M4 iPad Pro. I sit here, typing this story out in my 2020 iPad Pro and I could not be happier. Let me explain.
My iPad Pro is far less capable than the new and sleek M4 model. I can immediately feel the weight difference when returning to the old model. I can also see the lower quality of the LCD screen when compared to the M4 Pro’s OLED panel (it looks different even when scrolling regular UI around the operating system). While I know that there’s a massive difference in performance (the M4 being blazing fast), I couldn’t always feel the difference.
And, of course, the software, at least for the most moment is still the same on both devices. WWDC in June may change that a little bit, but for now the user experience is identical. The way I interact with with operating system, the apps I use, remain unchanged. We’ve known for some time that the iPad’s software was its main weakness.
